Tricity based NGO Tammana, under its Project Yakeen initiative, organized ‘Light a Life’ as its Event 124 for the less privileged students of the Govt. Elementary School at the School premises in Village Singhpura, Zirakpur Punjab.
92 students of classes I-V & for anganwadi participated in various competitions held during the event; including Waste to Wealth, drawing & coloring competition. The topics given to the children were Importance of Education in life & Festivals in India. While children enjoyed participating in the same & displayed their talents; Team members joined them & contributed in making their skills better.
In lieu of the festival season, diyas and candles contributed by the Team Members themselves were gifted to all for Diwali Celebrations. Thereafter, refreshments were served.
Member Kanika Sapra, shared that best results from different categories were awarded & prizes like Educational Games & Puzzles, Stationery, School Bags etc. were handed over. The students who attended the online classes regularly were rewarded specifically to encourage them.
Founder President Isha Kakaria also acknowledged the efforts of teachers who adapted to the new ways of teaching through online classes.
Team Tammna also sensitized students about the importance of education. They also distributed face masks to students without it.
All hands were sanitised before the event.
