Event 110 : World Cleanup Day Celebration

Tricity based NGO Tammana today organized a Clean up and Tree Plantation Drive (Event 110) on the occasion of the World Clean Up Day 2019 here at premises of Government Elementary School, Village Singpura, Zirakpur from 7am to 10am.
The event commenced with cleaning of the school premises. To counter and trim the long due grass, dry shrubs and wild bushes of the ill maintained courtyard of the school, professional gardeners with proper equipment were also called at the premises. 
The clean up task was the most challenging part of the event as this school without properly boundary walls was prone to open defecation. 
 
“The event was held in association with Decathalon, Zirakpur whose staff enthusiastically participated & then together with Team Tammana planted more than 100 trees including the outside area of the premises”; shared General Secretary of the NGO – Jaskaran Singh. 
 
This school is adopted by NGO Tammana under its Project Yakeen Initiative. The students from the school were overjoyed to participate in the Tree Plantation & look forward to take care of their plants. 
 
Healthy refreshments were served and no littering was taken care of. With a sincere team effort and the help of ever cooperative staff and principal of Project Yakeen school, the event was successfully concluded at 10 am. 
Ms. Neelam, Principal of the School shared that it was good to see the usage of gloves and masks by everyone participating to maintain proper hygiene and health care.  
 
Isha Kakaria, Founder President of the NGO, shared that this drive would not only help sensitize the students to keep the environment clean and green, but would also inculcate in them a sense of responsibility towards the environment and a better tomorrow.
 
NGO Tammana is a state awarded NGO, and has 65 active members and also regular interns serving the society.
