Event 105 : Actifit

A decade old, Tricity Based & State awarded NGO Tammana organized ActiFit’19, its 105th Event. The event was aimed to induce the message of Self Defense & promote health and well being via various fitness games & activities. Held in the early morning of 28th of April 2019 , #ActiFit was a great hit!
 
Just after the roll call, children from Government School Sector 25 Chandigarh; accompanied by Team Tammana gathered for their warm-up session. They were charged up by the instructors from Life Time Fitness Gym, Zirakpur. Taekwondo techniques were shared with the girls as a part of Self Defense Training. Meanwhile, boys actively participated in different groups for Fitness games like running, long jump, triple jump, Tug of war and etc.’
 
This was followed by a Yoga session from Acharya Deeksha Sharma, associate from Absolute Bliss, to warm down all participants after the vigorous fitness activities. Various breathing techniques, chanting of Om, and several Aasans were shared & performed.This session ended with creating awareness & motivation about following yoga and how it could be easily learned through digital mediums.
 
It was followed by another awareness session by the Doctors from ‘A & H Physiotherapy‘, who spoke about sports injuries, and how small things like wrong footwear, bad postures in regular lifestyle could result in injuries. They taught about how this can be avoided & revealed accurate postures that we must follow for a healthy body. Importance of physical training activities for girls was emphasized upon.
 
Prizes were then, distributed to the best participants from different activities and games. Healthy refreshments were distributed amongst all and no littering was taken care of as a part of keeping a healthy environment around.’ stated Office Coordinator, Meenakshi Mahajan.
 
The Founder President Ms. Isha Kakaria shared that ‘Self-defense, especially for women, is of utmost importance in the kind of the world we live in today. Women, usually referred as the weaker sex, are considered easier targets. In a country like India where the cases of gender violence are on rise, out of which many go unreported, self-defence for women has become a necessity more than ever.’
 
Jaskaran Singh, General Secretary; concluded that the children beamed with happiness for the group picture and promised to maintain the enthusiasm towards being fit. The event wrapped up at 10. am.
